brings a myriad of gifts to her facilitating expertise at SYL. With her love for both culinary and organic gardening, Molly has earned the affectionate moniker of “The Martha” of SYL. Her “Cooking with Fire!” sessions are as entertaining as they are educational, motivating, and just plain fun. Working for over 15 years as a hiking guide at the renowned Canyon Ranch Resort, she came to SYL with a passion for helping women breakthrough their fears in relation to outdoor adventures. This has earned her high respect and accolades from those in the industry. Her cooking and organic gardening skills guided her visionary trek to become the Founder/Executive Director of what she transformed from a historic barn near her home into Tucson’s very successful Rincon Valley Farmer’s Market today. This venture also inspired Molly to create the interactive sessions where she mentors women on ways to become more involved in their own town and/or city community endeavors. Molly is one of the three guiding lights in the culinary demos she shares with fellow SYL staff members, Lisa and Gabriela.

In 1993 made history as one of four women to reach the South Pole. The American Women’s Antarctic Expedition (AWE) trekked a grueling 700-miles across the snow and ice of Antarctica before reaching the world’s most remote destination. They skied for 67 days pulling 200-pound sleds into headwinds exceeding 50 mph and in temperatures that dropped to 67 degrees below zero. Six years later Sunniva led a team of three on a 33-day 350-mile coast-to-coast crossing of the Greenland Icecap to become the first Canadian woman to complete the trek. Providing just two of Sunniva’s “firsts” throughout the many adventures she’s journeyed, one gets a sense for her love of the outdoors and adventure travel. She is a passionate instructor during her motivational teachings and seminars, as her audiences throughout the U.S., Canada, Norway and Africa will attest. Serving as an instructor for Adventure 16’s Wilderness Outings Programs, Sunniva has guided numerous backcountry navigation, backpack and winter camping and survival programs. She continually participates in research surrounding the implications of psychologically- and physiologically-challenging endeavors. She has served as Director of Travel for a large company in the SF Bay area developing specialty adventure travel trips where she served on the faculty on trip with various cruise companies in the Arctic, Antarctic, Falklands Islands and South Georgia.
